FOOD JOURNAL: VeGreen Vegetarian Fusion Restaurant

Being Vegan has it’s challenges sometimes as not every restaurant is accommodating to your needs, but last Saturday I was out with my extended family after a basketball game and we decided to try VeGreen for early dinner. Most of my extended family is on a plant based diet so VeGreen was an easy spot for us to all decide upon. Although they are a vegetarian fusion restaurant, we weren’t too sure if they would have many vegan options, but was pleasantly surprised that the majority of dishes met our requirements.

As we walked in we were greeted and seated quickly even though we were a very large group. The decor was soft, appealing which made for a light, refreshing, clean space. We ordered some drinks and kale chips, salt and pepper chicken and beyond burgers for appetizers and they were all delicious as we did family style.

The wait staff was friendly and engaging and offered suggestions for the kids as well. They even mentioned portions sizes as we were ordering more than one or two of certain dishes to share and they explained the amounts so we didn’t over order. For our main courses we ordered the sweet and sour “chicken”, tofu mixed vegetables, veggie fried rice, “chicken’ pad thai, veggies medley clay pot and the Singapore rice noodles all to share.

This restaurant re-affirms that healthy foods can be unique, creative and TASTY!! Every dish was delightful and the portions were so large we had tons of left overs. Even though we ate so much we still made a point to try dessert because the food was THAT good. We tried the vegan cakes, chocolate mousse, coconut and carrot, which didn’t disappoint.

We definitely will be back to sample more of the other entrees in future. So if you are in the Duluth, Georgia area, stop by and give VeGreen a try!
