It’s possible that The Rock in Zanzibar, Tanzania, is worth traveling halfway around the world for. This restaurant, set on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, seems like it belongs in a fairy tale. During high tide, it transforms into a mini-island, with a wooden boat transporting you to the beach. At low tide, all you have to do is walk over the seaweed-strewn beach to reach this wonderful spot.
Both approaches will lead you to a rickety wooden staircase that leads to the restaurant, which is designed in the traditional Zanzibar architectural style and features a Makuti palm tree roof. There’s a lovely terrace in the rear where you can have a beverage while being surrounded on three sides by the blue oceans. Lunch and supper are served at 12 intimate tables inside.

Found at the very top of the skyscraper, the restaurant and Sky Bar has an elongated deck which protrudes above the building, it gives a feeling of floating in the air above the city while dining. Vertigo also has amazing views, although they’re not exactly what you’re thinking of when you think “views from your table.” Their space is designed to feel like a party in a dance club, complete with music, balls, and rotating mirrors.
Located in an old Thai palace, it consists of an open-air food court with no walls on the ground floor and four levels of additional dining rooms. The restaurant’s menu is made up of pasta, seafood, steak restaurants, as well as bars which are on the second level of the building.
The menu is also impressive with creative dishes such as duck foie gras, red snapper with ginger sauce, and even a dish called “sexy shrimp.” Serving drinks too, this bar features a cocktail list with exotic flavors like lychee martini and almond milk mojito.
