I feel we must demand that Congress put in place a Rail system, and stop Expanding our crowded Highway system! We are cutting down a lot of trees to make room for Six or Eight lane Highways. when a one lane of Rail system could serve thousands of riders. We could also set up a rail system that can remove the need of Large trucks on the National Road System. With a rail system People could see our Great and Beautiful USA. Also travel during the Holidays, without delays, at the Airports. I know the GOP will like this POST ! They tried to Kill the Interstate Highway system when. Think! about this what would roads look today if not for President Eisenhower

You need to scream this message from the house tops. This is long overdue in this country!

I was in the USA last year … i went by Amtrak from North Carolina to San Fransico by train … i enjoyed the experience including the scenery and the people I met … Amtrak was good especially the observation cars … though the trains never once left on time or arrived on time.

Glad you enjoyed the scenery! And yes, I’ve experienced the tardiness myself with Amtrak, but these routes make up for it in beauty. Thanks so much for reading and your feedback! 🙂

All mentioned are great trips , but the Amtrak from Chicago to Seattle is also a great one to view the vast Midwest and the Rockies into and through Glacier Natl Park.

I have a soft spot for old trains.
These trains are just beautiful and so are the scenery that surround them.
I hope they never go away… or at least not before I visit!

Indeed! Train tracks pass through much more “undeveloped” country. Gives you a chance to get a lot closer to nature, than curated parcels that we would normally experience on a road trip. Have been on many enjoyable train trips in India.

I’m considering gifting my husband (I’m going along, of course) with a train ride trip. He’s been complaining that he’s too old for the international flights and long drives that we’ve taken recently when we travel overseas. Tran trips sounds like a great substitute. We can stay right here in the US, take a train and let them do the driving and we can sit back, relax and watch the beauty of this country in comfort. Thanks for this!
